Mel Greenberg covered college and professional women’s basketball for the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he worked for 40 plus years. Greenberg pioneered national coverage of the game, including the original Top 25 women's college poll. His knowledge has earned him nicknames such as "The Guru" and "The Godfather," as well as induction into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007.

The Guru Report: Rutgers Loses at Wisconsin; Ohio State Sweeps Michigan; Stanford Nears PAC-12 Title Beating UCLA

Rutgers was unable to topple Wisconsin on the road Monday night snd fell to the Badgers 88-62 in a Big Ten game at the Kohl Center in Madison.

Kaylene Smikle scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Scarlet Knights (11-17, 5-11 Big Ten) while Chyna Cornwell scored 14.

Wisconsin (9-19, 4-12)  took off on a 15-0 run after the break and soared to a 69-44 lead.

Serah Williams had 21 points for the Badgers while Julie Pospisilova scored 17, and Avery LaBarbera had 16, Maty Wilke scored 14, and Brooke Schramek scored 11 points.

LaBarbera and Wilke each scored four from deep.

The Scarlet Knights next head to No. 12 Michigan Thursday, 7 p.m., in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines on Monday fell at home to No. 16 Ohio State 74-61 in the Crisler Center.

Rikki Harris scored 23 including three from deep for the Buckeyes (23-5, 12-5) with seven steals while Taylor Thierry had 15 points and Taylor Mikesell scored 15 points.

Michigan (20-7, 10-6) got 36 from Leigha Brown, including a perfect 11-for-11 from the line and 3-for-6 from deep.

Emily Kiser scored 11, and Jordan Hobbs scored 10 points.

Stanford Stops UCLA

Cameron Brink set a program record shooting 11-for-11 from the line leading No. 3 Stanford to a 71-66 win over visiting No. 17 UCLA in a PAC-12 game that was senior night for the Cardinal (26-3, 14-2 PAC-12).

The Stanford shot blocker with 102 on the season finished with 25 points in the final home game for herself and three other upperclasswomen. Haley Jones scored 18.

UCLA (21-7, 10-6) got 14 points from Londynn Jones.

Looking Ahead: No. 15 Villanova hosts DePaul at 7 p.m. Tuesday night on FloHoops trying to head to a second-seed finish in the Big East. The Wildcats are also looking to hold on to the fourth seed when the NCAA Committee releases its second reveal Thursday night.

Maddy Siegrist needs seven points to pass La Salle’s Mo Brooks to move into second behind the Explorers’ Lionel Simmons on the combined men’s and women’s list for everyone who has played at the city’s six Division I programs.

Temple visits UCF at 6 p.m. in the American Athletic Conference on ESPN+

No. 4 UConn hosts St. John’s at 7 p.m. in the Big East.

In the Big Ten No. 6 Iowa visits No. 7 Maryland at 8 p.m. needing a win to have a chance to tie No. 2 Indiana for the regular season conference crown.

Drexel’s Keishana Washington (27.7)  with her 40 points Sunday against Delaware moved back into second behind Siegrist (29.1) and ahead of Iowa’s Caitlin Clark (27.3) on the nation’s scoring list.
