Guru’s Guide to USBWA Coach of Year Vote

OK, As promised, here is a list but certainly not restrictive of coaches to think about and are listed here because of either national or conference success or breakthrough.

 Will make a few comments and it is presented in no particular order and if you are not a member but you have one coach who you think needs to be listed not seen that you want voters to think about just retweet the tweet that references this with the #USBWA-women hashtag and give your two cents.

Here’s the list.

 

Dawn Staley, SEC Coy, No. 1 finish, polls, likely No. 1 seed

 

Kelly Grave, Oregon, PAC-12 Coy and likely number one seed.

 

Adia Barnes, Arizona, major breakthrough, following up on wnit title last year.

Carla Berube, Princeton, Ivy Coy, rookie year and Tigers lost one game, were nationally ranked, and has No. 9 RPI.

 

Joanne Bernabei-McNamee, Boston College, ACC Coy

 

Wes Moore, North Carolina State, ACC tourney champs and best season in a while

 

Kim Mulkey, Baylor, Big 12 Coy, Likely No. 1 Seed

 

Caroline McCombs, Stony Brook, Amer East Coy, best season

 

Doug Bruno, DePaul, in top 25 all season

 

Denise Dillon, Drexel, CAA co-coy, No. 1 seed and one of best seasons in program history

 

Lynn Milligan, Rider, MAAC Coy, best season, No. 1 seed, Stella Johnson led country in scoring

 

Joe McKeown, Northwestern, Big Ten Coy, co-champs

 

Brenda Freese, Maryland, Big Ten tourney champs, candidate No. 1 seed

 

Geno Auriemma, Connecticut, American Coy, candidate No. 1 seed

 

Teri Moren, Indiana, Went wire to wire in AP poll first time

 

Nikki McCray, Old Dominion, Best season in years rebuilding the Lady Monarchs

 

Megan Duffy, Marquette, Big East Coy, rookie season as head coach

 

Austin Parkinson, IUPUI, first time horizon champs and tourney champs, coy

 

Jaime White, Fresno State, Mountain West Coy, Reg season champs first time.
