AP Women's Poll History: Extra Notes Off New Rankings

By Mel Greenberg @womhoopsguru

Here are some extra notes off the latest rankings released Monday by the AP following the Guru's weekly database update.

Louisville's exit marked the first time since prior to the start of the 2011-12 season that the Cardinals were not in the rankings ending a run of 81 weeks, which was under the leaders, a period of four seasons and three more weeks in the current 40th anniversary year.

Baylor made its 100th Top 10 appearance this decade behind the 101 by Notre Dame and Connecticut, which is a perfect 112 for 112 in both Top 10 and Top 5 appearances.

Baylor also broke a tie with Rutgers to get sole possession of 10th place for all-time Top 10 rankings at 190.

The Pac-12 has five teams listed this week, tying the Western side of the continent with the Southeastern Conference for most members in the current rankings. The Atlantic Coast and Big 10 have four each, which the Big 12 has three, while the Big East and American Athletic Conference each have two members.
