Guru Report: USABasketball U19 List and More Doty Trick Shots

By Mel Greenberg

Moving along in quasi-boredom as the start of WNBA camps next week remain awaited here is a list of the invitees who have accepted invitations to the U19 trials later this month at the United States Olympic Training Center at Colorado Springs, Colo., May 22-25.

The World University Games list is not out yet though Delaware has already announced that Elena Delle Donne has accepted her invitation to the trials which will be held concurrently with the U19 trials.

If cheap plane fares to Denver don’t vanish in the next 24-48 hours, the Guru is contemplating a trip to the trials, though that will mean missing the first WNBA exhibition game of the New York Liberty that will become Jerseyized with its initial game in the Prudential Center in Newark the next three summers while Madison Square Garden undergoes renovations.
Other games that were and remain on the Guru’s original preseason look were a Washington morning game the next day after the Mystics visit New York and three Connecticut Sun games, including one at the other Mohegan Sun that Thursday night in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Meanwhile, here’s the list of the U19 invitees with acceptances off the USABasketball website.

Doty Trick Shots Redux

UConn junior to be Caroline Doty of Germantown Academy in the Philadelphia suburbs has another set of trick shots in a new video follow-up to the sensation she caused with her first production near the end of the season.

Doty of Doylestown, Pa., missed the entire season on the court due to a third ACL injury incurred last summer.

Here’s a link if you haven’t already seen it but first, this thought, does that mean another follow-up to Penn State sophomore to be Maggie Lucas is not far behind the one she produced prior to the opening round of the NCAA tournament?

And now the Doty link and the Guru will return when warranted, though he will be at the Connecticut Sun media day next week – hey it’s preseason and the Guru has to get back into shape traveling to Uncasville.

The Doty link which connects at the Guru’s Hartford Courant colleague John Altavilla blog:
