Lime Paced By A-10 Stars Wins Philly Summer League

By Mel Greenberg

The Lime team made it a two-game sweep over Columbia Blue Tuesday night in the best-of-three finals of the Philadelphia Department of Recreation Women's Summer League, which is sanctioned by the NCAA and was held at Bolish Gym, the home of the AAU Renegades in Hatboro, Pa., near Willow Grow.

Lime, which was the top seed going into the playoff via tie-breaker at 8-2, got 23 points from former St. Bonaventure and Pennsbury High star Dana Mitchell, while St. Joseph's junior Katie Kuester scored 21 points, and Jenn Prine and Sarah McGorry each scored 17 points in the 88-69 win.

The winners took the opener Thursday 66-56 pulling away in the closing minutes over the squad that is composed entirely of past and present players from DII Holy Family, who made the finals for the first time.

On Tuesday night, Lindsey Tennett scored 15 points, Catherine Carr and Meghan Gibson scored 14 points, and Erin Mann scored 10.

Kuester is the daughter of NBA Detroit Pistons coach John Kuester, a former 76ers assistant coach.

Thanks to commissioner David Kessler, who keeps claiming retirement, who supplied the information to the Guru via email, considering the Guru is in Washington where his post of the WNBA showdown is just above this.
